ALERT: Decommission POTS Lines this year proactively or reactively, the choice is yours!
Over the last couple years, we have watched many things in the world drastically change. The realm of communications and IT has been no different. In fact, even though the industry is known to be on the leading edge and embracing of early adoption, we have felt a dramatic increase in the urgency for radical or immediate upgrades.
This year will bring drastic change to the way businesses utilize communication services. In August 2019, the FCC issued order 19-72A1 which mandates that all U.S. POTS lines get replaced with an alternative service by August 2, 2022. Service providers are moving ahead of that deadline. For example, in many areas of the country, Verizon Business will no longer support POTS lines after April 2022 in order to have a reasonable timeline to tie up all loose ends and finalize end of service demands.
Business owners, CIOs, CTOs, and VPs of IT make daily technical decisions that strongly affect the bottom line, ROI, efficiency, and the future of the company.
The fast-paced climate of the world of technology demands that such people are in the know and can respond appropriately to specific needs within their company to ensure they are always leading the charge on the strategic edge.
One such major decision that affects all of these and the day-to-day performance of the company is within the realm of technology connectivity. Specifically, phone systems, employee and systems connectivity, UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service), and security.
While these upgrades are not comprehensive and this is not an exhaustive list, business technology is in the middle of an evolution from copper to cloud across the board, and it is important to explore the many ways in which cloud-based integrations may benefit your organization.
5 Connectivity Technology Nightmares That Keep IT Leaders Up at Night
CIOs and IT leaders have a tough job. They need to deliver results, hire the right talent, make sure they have the right connectivity technology in place, and be relevant to the business. One of the most frustrating experiences for an IT organization is when precious time is spent using key resources to deal with connectivity technology issues that dramatically impact their business.
Telecom is not perfect, and often can be chaotic. Most IT leaders don’t like dealing with telecom and dread sending out messages like: “Our network is currently experiencing service disruptions affecting customers and internal employees globally…..”. Unfortunately, telecom problems will happen, issues will arise, and your business will be impacted. But we CAN plan for those that have the most significant impact.
Let’s look at 5 Connectivity Nightmares That Keep IT Leaders Up at Night: Carrier Service Outages
Overview: Renodis enterprise client in the higher education industry was experiencing an increase in mobility spend due to dramatic change in monthly usage patterns. They also were having challenges with mobile asset inventory and support of end users with corporate liable devices. This client had unique requirements given their national operations, multiple business units, and 3000 employees.
Solution: The client optimized their mobility environment through Renodis Mobility Managed Services. Renodis reviewed data usage and plans to mitigate overages and underutilization. Real-time monthly reporting of all mobile assets discovered zero usage devices to be disconnected. Lastly, to ensure quality end user experience, Renodis provided help desk support for activation/decommission of mobile devices, add/remove features and incident management.
Results: The client was able to obtain a credit of approximately $90K for overages due to usage pattern changes from the pandemic, and a complete inventory with documentation of mobile devices that identified over 200 zero usage mobility devices to be cancelled saving them about $12K monthly.
New feedback from the field, IT leaders, and end users.
“...if somebody said, "invoicing and contract negotiation is killing us', I'd say 'I've got someone who can take care of all that for you.' For me, I'd recommend them (Renodis). They've been a great help and partner."

"The value is tremendous. They handle all our telecom contract negotiations and renewals, the details, the calls, and the communication. And they bring it to us in a package that we can review. They save my team a tremendous amount of time."
